Flora Avriett Semanik "GG", 98, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2017, with loved ones by her side. Born August 4, 1918 in Jennings, Florida with her family history dating back to the 1800's in Hamilton County, Florida. She graduated from Landon High School at the age of 16 and attended FSU as well as the University of Florida, where she graduated with her mother. By 20 years of age she was teaching, which she continued for 35 years. She retired from the Duval Cty School Board in July of 1975. Following...

Flora Avriett Semanik "GG", 98, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2017, with loved ones by her side. Born August 4, 1918 in Jennings, Florida with her family history dating back to the 1800's in Hamilton County, Florida. She graduated from Landon High School at the age of 16 and attended FSU as well as the University of Florida, where she graduated with her mother. By 20 years of age she was teaching, which she continued for 35 years. She retired from the Duval Cty School Board in July of 1975. Following retirement she enjoyed supporting family and the SEDA Construction Company business with trips to communities, one of which was named after her, Flora Parke.

Survivors include her one and only loving son, John A. "Sandy" Semanik (Linda); 4 grandchildren, Katherine Ann "Katie" Carpenter (Joey), Suzanne Elizabeth Taylor (Wade), Kenneth Cray "Kenny" Adams (Leah), Marc Anthony "Tony" Adams (Jessi); and 11 great-grandchildren. Flora is 12 years predeceased in death by her adoring husband of 58 years, Arnold Joseph Semanik.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 10:30 am in the Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville Florida 32207, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am. The Graveside will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
